Hi Don,
I use a DEM transverter p/n 1296-144. Output is 2.5W with as little as 1mW
IF drive. For work requiring high frequency accuracy like PUA43, I connect
a 192 MHz signal (which is GPS "locked") to the xtal osc circuit. However,
the unit is reasonably stable without locking.
This txvtr drives my DEM 2340PA to 25+ watts, which in turn, drives 4x7289's
to several hundred watts.
Having said that, I am also very pleased with my DB6NT txvtr, lna and 2W amp
used on 10GHz. First class equipment, however, I have no experience with DB6NT
on 1296.
Good luck in your journey and 73,
Larry W7SZ
