I believe the prevalance of non compiled software in the Linux
community is due to the
fact that such software is frequently configurable based on
commands given at the
time of compile, so it wouldnt make sense to pre compile I
guess.

website (www.fidalgo.net/~wa7gxd/dsp.html) with
information on a couple of software tool options that apply to
the DSP-10.
The first is DOSBOX, an open-source/freeware means of runing DOS
applications under Win XP (and apparently Mac OS, Linux and so
forth). I
succeeded in running the ADI DOS-based tools under DOSBOX,
including the
simulator. The webpage gives information on how I configured it
to run on
my computer.
The second is a project called OPEN21XX. This is an open-source
set of
tools for the ADSP-218x *and* 219x DSPs. Included are links to
the homepage
of the project, and to precompiled versions for Mac OS and
Windows. I guess
it is a sin to precompile stuff for Linux :-)
I haven't tried the OPEN21XX tools yet, as DOSBOX solved my
problem in the
short term.
Enjoy!
