Hi, Mike!
There are a couple of local hams [members of the PackRats] building the DSP-10, but I
am not aware of anyone being finished with it.
I haven't been on at all from home, really, in terms of regular 'hamming' since the
January VHF contest. I went up to W2SZ/1 for the June contest and will repeat for
the September contest.
I haven't had the DSP-10 on in quite a while. I have a less-than-ideal neighbor
situation and have been busy at work and with family and the combination has led to
very much reduced activity. I hope that will change, but I don't know when ;)
I am not aware of detecting the MGS ;)
I have not had a chance to massage the data so that I can correct for Doppler and
keep the MGS signal in the same bin for long enough to do some really good averaging.
I needed some help to figure out how to do the Doppler calculations with Mars and
the Earth both moving around the Sun, with the Earth rotating, and the MGS orbiting
Mars. So I couldn't do 'on the fly' correction. Whether I will ever get to doing
the corrections I don't know, but at least today with the help of Marko I got the
calculations done for several of my data points and the results look reasonable, and I
have the formulas down. SO in principle I can now do it. With just 4 9wl yagis my
chances are slim though, so I may just wait and see if Marko saw anything with the
array of 8 7wl yagis. If he did, then I will be motivated to crunch the data.
I hope at some point to get active again with the DSP-10; I have two more unbuilt
kits in the basement waiting for me to get the time. I am putting up a new 50 MHz to
24 G station and am making sure that I have elevation on all bands as well as azimuth
rotation so I can try some of the neat stuff that you guys are doing.
I hope you do have a change in the weather so that I can get some more neat reports
from you all. They are always very avidly read by me. I really enjoyed the QEX
article.
Have a great week.
Its time to hit the sack here ;)

Roger
