Hi Andy,
I saw that java interface a few weeks ago. I haven't played with Java code
for a long time now but a Java front-end would be cool. Not sure about the
newest version of JDK however serial I/O has been a problem in the past.
External libs existed but they would need to be different for every
platform. This may not be an issue any more though.
I've been involved in several projects on sourceforge, my favorites was
dashpc. They originally did a Java front-end however, after several version
moved development efforts to C.
I think we need to take a look at all options, Java included, maybe do some
proof of concept type stuff, until we stumble on the one that makes the most
sense. But this is just my thoughts ;-)
If you have a sourceforge user ID, send it to me and I'll add you to the
project.
Thanks again Andy
Cheers,
John Scherer, KC0OIE

Linux support would be good as I have to go steal one of the kids' PCs
every time I want to do any Windows type stuff! But, why not implement
the UI in Java so that it can be run on one's personal preference for
OS? There was a Java UI project
(http://www.ph.tn.tudelft.nl/~polder/dsp10java.html) but nothing seems
to have happened with this for a long time.
My DSP-10 will be finished soon, and I've been hacking on Unix/Linux for
25+ yrs, so I'm happy to assist.
Regards
