[DSP-10] Trouble Downloading Pointers

Hi Nancy,
Congratulations on getting the board together!
U1 and U2 pins 3 need voltage. See if there is volatge at the 10 volt side
of R1 and R3. If not, they come from a common wire under the PCB. Missing?
R110 at 1.748 is fine.
The two end pins of the mixer, 1 and 4, have internal transformer windings
to ground, and show near shorts. The pin 2 I-F shows conducting Schottky
diodes, either direction, and vary depending on the Ohmmeter. I think your
measurements are normal.
The pointer table thing: This error message has been seen by many. The
required response wasn't very clear, so the new 3.04 has a different (more
clear and more rude) response. It sends you back in DOS.
For either the old, or new, "Pointer Message," the reason is either:
1 - the UHF3.EXE is prior to version 2.0 and doesn't have a pointer table.
2 - more often, the DSP program is not running.
To check item 2, look at the red LED on the EZKit Lite. It should be on all
the time, not quite full brilliance (but, that is hard to observe). If it is
flashing, the EZ-Kit monitor is running. If it is off, nothing is running.
Sometimes, EZFAST will fail without an obvious error message. The User's
Manual notes of
http://members.ispwest.com/kd7ts/ver3/transceiveroperation.html
may be helpful. Sometimes an EZFAST problem relates to running it at the
fastest, default rate. See the EZFAST notes for reducing the speed.
Before starting to load UHF3.EXE, be sure that the EZKit is running it's
monitor program. This is indicated by the flashing red LED. If not, try the
reset button on the EZKit.
Be sure that the G command is on the end of the EZFAST command line.
Try the Windows loader referred to in the html page above. It is slow, but
reliable.
And all this assumes that you are not using an EPROM with UHF3.EXE in it, as
this should startup running the DSP-10 program.
An aside: the DSP program has about 25 tables that define things like the
filter responses. The memory locations of these tables move around,
everytime the program is assembled and linked together. In order that the PC
program can modify the software while it is operating, the locations of
these tables needs to be found. This is the pointer table the error message
refers to.
Good luck and let us know what you find.
