Hi DSP-10 folks.......

We are over here in Germany (a small DSP-10 group) working on a good tradeoff
between the price and stability on a 10 MHz OCXO.

There are several possibilities to gain as much as needed stabillity for the
DSP-10 and his usage for EME or other weak-signal-work.

Long time stability in terms of days are maybe not so much of a concern. What
we think, it is most important to have a short term stable OCXO
in the range of less than 0.1 Hz per hour or so. GPS locked is the most
wanted design, but is it really needed????
Some of as are able to pay the price, but there are other easy to achive
hombrew constructions.

Forehand we like to mention that thing over here are way different between
you guys in the US and in the European Hamradio community.
We have to build most of our equipment by ourself. There is no Surplusmarket
to purchase fine, but old stuff, and for the sake of satifaction we should
get the best out of our minds and doit ourselves. We believe huge bulky GPS
RX and controllers and PWS and more bulky stuff is firstof not needed.
The OCXO we are talking about will fit together with the power supply for the
DSP-10 and for the OCXC itself nearby the Hammond Box and all 3 units again
can be seated in a nice looking small cabinet.
One very good cristal (cut and polished according to specs) in the price
range of 20 $ to 30 $, an 358 OP amp, a PWR Xistor and some ordinary parts
out of scrap, a prefabricated stable housing and a good soldering iron will
doit. It runs at 60 Deg. C in a selfmade oven.....For the beginning what else
do we need????

Sheras GPS solution might be the best to get...but we will build this oven
and get the results and publish them.....at www.walter-schroeer.de (DC8SW)...

Pictures of a equivalent OCXO for the freq. range 106.5Mhz can be seen at my
website www.dc9up.de/id27.htm. It is
used as a LO for my 10 GHz station and will permit me to hit the freq. less
then 20 Hz at 10 Ghz. (Sorry, the writing on the website is in German, but
will be translated soon !! )

A same design will be used for 10 MHz. After we have finished and built this
thing ( it may take some weeks) the complete design will be available at the
above website.

By the way, this website (walter-schroeer) could be used as a pool for
European kitters for information exchange...just use the mailback button and
I will collect all comments and remail them up here on the DSP-10 site. The
website maybe will be reorganized to have a webring, depending on time and
reflections. We still work on it, so pse check regular and see how it`s going.

So far we know, there are about 4 hams on the line in the Euro-land for
DSP-10:

DC8SW Walter), DC9UP (Hermann) , HB9DHY (Mike) and some ham from the
Netherlands (pse contact me again by mail ([email protected]) because I
lost your mail-adress).....

If somebody likes to know more about, contact me at: [email protected] or
direct [email protected].

73 de Hermann (DC9UP) and Walter DC8SW)

(To all of you, pse excuse the writing-errors!!!)
