I don't know if there was a Drake keyer, but I like keyers and have a number
from about that era. My favorite, all around, is the Hallicrafters "TO"
keyer. I have two of them, one for at least 40 years. They use a relay for
keying, so voltage and polarity of the keyed line is not a factor.
Reliable, not expensive, and fairly plentiful. Drawback: Not iambic.
Another choice is the Heathkit HD1410 (I believe that's the correct number.)
It will key different polarities without any changes at all, with the same
output jack. Also reliable and plentiful. Drawback: built in paddles with
no provision for external paddle.
One ham's opinion....

Subject: [Drake] Keyer
I am resurrecting a C Line and am gathering assorted "extras" that came at
that same time. I have found a nice MN4 and a Drake desk microphone (not
sure what that is used for) but I find I am in need of a keyer. My last 2
rigs were Ten Tec which have built in keyers. The question is, did Drake
build a keyer for the C Line and if so does anyone have one for sale? I know
they built one for the TR7 line but I want something that goes with the C
Line if they made one. I have been a ham going on 50 years and I am allowed
to forget what was built "back in the day". If Drake didn't build such a
thing what do you suggest?
Thanks
