Ron,

Probably you need to clean and re-lube the lead screw and perhaps the 
ball bearings on your PTO.  Google Drake PTO and you will find several 
sites with photos on what to do and what not to do.   It only takes a 
few minutes to do this and it is well worth the improved operation and 
reduced wear to the PTO parts.  Do pay close attention to the warning 
not to put oil where it doesn't belong or you will have lots of 
additional work to do.
