Damien,

Does it work OK in the 40 x 24 character mode? For my Theta 9000 I had
to go to a vintage computer monitor which did work OK in the 80 x 24
mode but I had the same problem as you when using TV type monitors in
the 80 x 24 mode. I don't know if a video stabilizer would help, I
never tried one. Some of the little Chinese made small sets do have a
"game" mode and it allows centering through a menu choice so you might
try that but I think the video bandwidth through the composite input of
most TV's will not handle 80 x 24 character text mode very well. There
was a good reason the old Radio Shack, Commodore, etc. computers output
a pretty low resolution display so they would work with TV sets and I
remember when I first used the IBM PC with its monochrome monitor how
nice the text display looked compared to most other "small" computers.

It is a nice terminal setup. I use it with my TR-7A / R-7 / L-7
station. I did find it interesting that the Drake literature suggests
hooking it to the aux output of the PS-7 supply but the aux output is
fused at .5 amps less than what the 9000 is rated to draw and it did
blow the fuse. Since the aux output comes via a fuse directly from the
main output of the PS-7 I just changed the fuse to a 2 amp unit and all
worked well. I think the smaller Theta terminal probably had a lower
current draw.
