[Drake] mike preamp circuit needed

In attempting to interface my Heil ProSet Plus with HC4 and HC5 mike 
elements (low impedance) to my T4XC (high impedance required) I have tried 
to locate a mike preamp or other impedance matching circuit without much 
luck.

I have already tried the Heil XT1 matching transformer which has resulted in 
poor audio quality.

Thinking of a simple one or two transistor circuit that might do the 
trick....has anybody done this to match low impedance modern mikes to the 
high impedance older boat anchors require???
