One of the many schemes for wiring the D104 includes a shorting switch
across the mic to eliminate hum
and pickup when not talking. Does the short go away when you "choke the
chicken"? I rewired mine to have the mic live all the time for VOX
use. Also the switch can still be used for PTT.
