Jim,
I think RG-58 (50 Ohm) was used for Ethernet cables.  Only place I kind of 
remember RG-62 (93 Ohm) or equivalent cable was used, was in the SNA world 
on IBM 3270 coax devices.

I believe others have answered what type cable to use, and I believe any 
good quality can be made to work.
