Well that certainly could be the problem. It's _possible_ that
someone "hard-wired" the two jumpers necessary, since the 7 pin tube
"header" plugs are a little hard to find these days.
Most likely the seller pulled the NB to sell it separately (it's just a
matter of time before the tubes are pulled and offered in "another one
of my auctions", along with the calibrator, filters and anything else
that just "unplugs".
But to answer your question, yeah, that would pretty well kill the
receiver!! The jumper is a little ambiguous in the schematic. You need
to tie Pin 3 to Pin 6, and Pin 4 to Pin 7. You can just stick wire
into the socket until you can find a plug. The wires DO cross however,
so one has to be insulated.
Easy fix for a great receiver!
