Another approach is to spray DeoxIT (using the plastic tube supplied) on the
socket pins and burnish the contacts using a wooden toothpick, then insert
the tube. The toothpick is just rough enough to break any oxidation free and
the wood absorbs nicely.
Don't over-do the DeoxIT
