That is why an original service manual are hard to find. Beware of those  
that are sold on a CD -ROM. However they are better than nothing at all.
 
  I would check the many Drake sites. Many of them have retired Drake  
engineers that give could run off a copy of a real TR-5 service manuel.
 
  I have checked the sites on the net. There is some service repair  info.
 
    The TR-5 is not too similar to the TR-7. However  the VFO is DDS. They 
also use hetrodyne crystals for each of the ham  bands.
 
   The final is not as beefy either. However I would love to own  a TR-5. It 
simply does not drift.
TX and RX audio is all Drake. Too bad about the limited 2nd IF filter  
selection. 500hz CW?
     Just curious....if one of you O.M.'s would not  mind. What are TR-5's 
selling for ????
