I am going to hook up my TR-7(s/n 4000+) with a Drake R7A(s/n3500+)
I see many make the cable for $50. I would make my own but I have peroferal
nueryopathy. Nothing serious, I just cannot solder cbales and plugs any more.
Are there some tr-7/R-A TCVR cables that offer extra features. Is oe truly
up to Drake specs ect.
I do not mind paying an extra $20 for a cacle that uses better coax or any
other special featrure.
I guess you guys all now the DDS-7 is out. Assebled and tested they are
asking aprox. $500U.S.
I guess that is a good deal. ultra stable DDS good enough for Mars and 30M.
20 memories. 2 seperate VFO's and they elluded to some type of PC interface
and control.
That is a hard feat to pull off. RS-232 for a Drake TR-7.
I spoke to the maker in finland. I asked will it work for the R-7A. e seemed
very confused.
So I guess all that is done is that you have the R-7 slaved to the TR-7.
The TX ad RX will be dead on with the DDS.
Any oe done this yet? Feel like kicking this ball around a bit and
e-brainstorm on this?
THE BAD NEWS.
YOU HAVE TO CUT 1 TRACE, AND ADD 5 COAX OR JUMPERS
YOU SEE IT IS TOTAL DDS.
THE VFO, AND ALL LOCAL OSCILLATORS ARE REPLACED BY THIS VFO BOX.
WHO KNOWS PERHAPS THE RIG WILL WORK BETTER THAN NEW!!!!
They make the same gizmo for the Drake C line too!
Sure looks nice in the photo. It displays down to the Hz!!!!!
Probably just as well the box hooks up to thr tr-7/A. I saw an R-7a sell for
$1800!!!!!!!
I paid $900 for my R-7A. It's RX is as good or better than the TR-7A. I had
to do some work on it however..
Would love to have the TR7 and the R-7A work like a C line.
