My experience with Butternut was similar to this....as a matter of fact,
I believed in it so much that I woke up in Kansas the next day!

Subject: Re: [Drake] Antenna Question...
They all work. They all dont work. Yes, you read right.
If you believe it will work, it will. Belief and need seem to drive the
satisfaction level of these antennas. Following recommended deployment
schema and operator skill will net very satisfactory results no matter
what
brand choice you make. A circumspect attitude is needed as to whether to
be
happy in your choice. Deployment and test gear will assure results with
any
of the products out there on the market for the most part.
Ive been on the hambands long enough to be surprised at how many hams
successfully use these antennas to their advantage. Its easy to look
down
your nose at these antennas once you've gained experience with other
antennas, but its a mistake to do so.
Once in a while I find one of these antennas at a garage sale or hamfest
for
cheap. I nearly always buy it in case I need it, or pass it on to new
hams
or hams with antenna restrictions. Being objective about these
shortened
verticals is not easy. It is clear that they work amazingly well
especially
if you believe in them.
