I just add my two cents worth ,I ran the ButterNut with good results Hv-9 and
bought the 160 kit (which I would not recomend it shorten up 80 meters quite
a bit) careful measurements required with this one)But for price value I felt
very good performance quality and instructions alittle lacking. I sold this
vertical and Bought stepper Big IR 28 ft modle very easy no traps 10-40 meters
ful legal limit swr across all bands 1:2:1 an excellent choice use a interface
control from the shack and about 4 week wait last time I checked, i run both
their 3 element yagi and found it to be great Vertical antenna Time prove out
probaly the best cost about 500.00 a little more if you get a rig controler
for the interface. The vertical elemnt auto adjust for the band you choose,
easly nock down to take camping or field day. You need to look at this one link is

f you're considering a multiband vertical, the Butternut HF-6V and
HF-9V should be on your short list.
All multiband verticals are compromises, but I find that Butternut
performs exceptionally well on 20 and 15 Meters, OK on 10, 30, and 40
Meters, and as good as a 26 foot antenna can be on 80 Meters. 17, 12,
and 6 work, but in retrospect, I'm not sure they justify getting the 9V
rather than the 6V.

Multiband verticals use various tricks to present acceptable impedance
and patterns on the various bands. The tricks used by the Butternuts
are efficient but require careful adjustment. I used an Autek VA1; the
process can be tedious with only an SWR bridge.

The mechanical construction is excellent.
