Mike,

The main differences to the user include 160 meter and WARC band coverage on 
the L-7. The L-4B may handle the newer bands, but not sure. Also, the L-7 is 
inhibited on 12 and 10 meters as shipped -- but the conversion is well 
documented on the web.

I have the L-7 and have some experience with the L-4B. The L-4B, in my humble 
opinion, has a better tube cooling system with the chimney setup. The L-7 
cools the tubes with a large (fairly quiet) fan blowing across the tubes. The 
tubes in both radios were 3-500Z's. I make mention of cooling but have to say 
that the 3-500Z's in my L-7 are the original Eimacs that came with the amplifier 
in the 1970's.
