You must have the 1544 adaptor in order to use it with the R7. The RV-75
plugs directly into the TR-7, but requires the 1544 in order to plug into to
the R7. The 1544 has the additional feature that it allows the TR-7 and R7
to be tuned to the same frequency using the RV-75 as the tuner, thus making
the TR-7/R7 combo into a transceiver.
So, the short answer is, that the RV-75 will NOT work with the R7 unless you
have the 1544 adaptor and the appropriate Cinch-Jones connecting cable.
You can construct a 1544 adaptor and the Cinch-Jones cable by using the
instructions on the Drake Message board.
Original question was:
Now I'm confused about the RV75 adapter! Some have told me I need the Model
1544 adapter to use it with the R7, and some have told me I need a special
cable to use it with the R7. Others have told me I can just plug it in.
I've looked at the 1544 adapter, and it looks to me as though that might be
set up to use the RV75 with an R7 and the TR7 all at the same time.
I only wish to use the RV75 with the R7 receiver. Will I still need the
Model 1544 adapter or not?
