It's pretty difficult to solder a piece of wire to a cartridge fuse
without melting either the fuse element or the solder in the end cap.

Much easier solution is to put a couple of inches of #30 wire in place
of the fuse.   #30 will "fuse" at right around 8 amps.  It doesn't
need to be a precision fuse, since any failure will almost certainly
be a short and all you want to do is have the "link" open up before
the filament wiring gets hot enough to melt the insulation.  In fact,
almost all filament fuse failures are caused by someone shorting the
filament line to ground while troubleshooting.

22 ga. hookup wire is usually 7 X 30 or seven strands of #30 wire.
