[Drake] T4XC PROBLEMS

Larry -

The resistor is the meter shunt. It is a 3.3 ohm 1/2W. I replace them
with a 1W ceramic composition resistor.

Your intermittent output might respond to tightening all the hardware, but
if not will require further troubleshooting. Sounds like a complete
alignment wouldn't hurt either.

Subject: [Drake] T4XC PROBLEMS

I have a T4X-C serial number 29K + with several problems and all seem to be
intermittent. I've replaced all the bias caps and 250v caps in the power
supply and the 650v caps appear to be clean. (Minimal AC).
1. Intermittent power out. When it does work I have about 150 watts on tune.
2. Intermittent audio. Same scenario, when it works it right I have about
150 watts. Sometimes you can just see everything start to fall. Plate meter
corresponds with my Mirage MP-1 watt meter.
3. This is all on 75 meters and the transceiver switch set to receiver. If I
choose the transmitter output drops to 50 watts. If I select separate I go
back to 50 watts. I know I'm on the transmitter because I've tested it on
the air. I have not had it on any other band.
4. This morning I took the bottom off and found a resistor fried to the
point of not being able to be sure of it's value. I think it's a 33 ohm 1/2
watt. No idea what circuit this is in. With the bottom off and turned upside
down with the front of the radio facing you. Dead center and 2/3 the way
back is the transmitter relay on a small board. This burned resister is to
the right of the relay and just below the 2 watt resistor mounted
horizontally. This resistor is mounted vertically standing upright, not
flush to the board and looks like orange, orange , black. Not positive.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
