Guys (and gals),
Please don't be too hard on Drake.  They have had to make hard business
choices before about Ham Radio equipment.  I am sure that there are
still bitter sweat memories.

In today's business environment, unless you can be 100% sure that you will
be number 1 or 2 in the field, it is too risky to try.  Every company in
the world is under pressure from the financial markets (be they private or
public companies).

I am sure that even a modest amp would require a retooling for "the line".
That takes capital which Drake may not have "inside".  Any investment
would require business plan, sales forecast, return on investment, and
so on for the "money man".  Businesses use a 10% ROI as a decision point.
Financial people figure that the money can go into investments and average
10% return without the business risk (be that right or wrong).
