3-25-06 DARC members, you will be very happy with the performance of the
Sinclair antenna on the 82 repeater..
This is the same one that we have recently purchased for the Easton
repeater. It is an expensive antenna, but it is rated at 185 mph wind
survival, and the coverage we are getting is the best of any antenna we have
ever used.

Subject: [DARC] Antenna replacement for the D.A.R.C. 146.22/82 Repeater
> To all D.A.R.C. members;
>
> At the board meeting on Wednesday (3/22/06) it was decided to replace the
> existing damaged antenna on the 146.22/82 repeater with a Sinclair SD214
> heavy duty/low intermod antenna. We will also be replacing the mounting
> hardware/brackets, and associated coax jumper (pigtail) which connects the
> antenna to the existing 7/8 inch coax on the tower. The Sinclair SD214
was
> selected for its performance and long term durability. As this antenna is
> located at a height of 825 feet on the tower, it is the best long term
cost
> effective approach.
>
> The estimated total cost of this job is $5,500.00. This includes the
labor
> for the first tower climb to temporarily secure the existing antenna with
a
> nylon strap. The total labor included in the total cost is approximately
> $2,600.00.
