To all D.A.R.C. members;
At the board meeting on Wednesday (3/22/06) it was decided to replace the
existing damaged antenna on the 146.22/82 repeater with a Sinclair SD214
heavy duty/low intermod antenna. We will also be replacing the mounting
hardware/brackets, and associated coax jumper (pigtail) which connects the
antenna to the existing 7/8 inch coax on the tower. The Sinclair SD214 was
selected for its performance and long term durability. As this antenna is
located at a height of 825 feet on the tower, it is the best long term cost
effective approach.
The estimated total cost of this job is $5,500.00. This includes the labor
for the first tower climb to temporarily secure the existing antenna with a
nylon strap. The total labor included in the total cost is approximately
$2,600.00.
Although this expense will deplete a majority of the club treasury, we
expect to have enough to cover all repeater expenses for the remainder of
the year. At this time we do not anticipate a club dues increase for next
year but will review our monetary situation toward the end of the year.
Any questions may be directed to either myself at < willmuth at dmv.com > or
any of the other club officers.
