Hi, Brad:
Could have been 2019 when Larry KB8EMD mentioned activity at the VA
radio club and
I briefly visited.
*If the VAEC has an emergency operation guidelines or handbook, I would
like to review it*
so I would know what assistance the ham radio community might provide.
I am willing to assist, but my primary goal would be to put some AREDN
devices on
the hospital roof and one on the roof over the Amateur Radio room in
building 305(?).
Would the hospital provide backup electrical power at the hospital ?
...at the radio room?
Else, would we would want solar panels, a controller, and battery storage.
My disaster plan is primarily to backup the loss of telephone (with
VoIP, PBX) and
email communication (with Winlink) for the hospital.
Our group also has the capability of an audio, video, desktop and file
sharing application and
we train weekly.
Is there any part of their emergency plan to have Amateur Radio
operations inside the hospital
or only at the Amateur Radio Club location which is about a mile away!
I have access to a very tall building near the Dayton Mall which is line
of sight to the VA Hospital.
There are already several AREDN nodes on this roof and one is,
more-or-less, pointed at the VA Center.
Regards, Chuck
