I am pleased to invite you to another event being sponsored by Arrow
Electronics and NXP. On Tuesday, November 19th, we will be hosting an
all-day hands-on training on NXP’s i.MX8M Mini SoC.
You must bring your own laptop and mouse to participate in the labs, though
NXP will provide the Variscite DART-MX8-Mini boards that will be shared
during the class. Note: These will travel to the next seminar location and
we will NOT be able to provide you these boards to keep.
*Goals:*
- Become Familiar with i.MX8M Mini architecture
- Become familiar with Heterogenous ARM cores: Cortex-A53 and Cortex-M4
- Choose the right i.MX8M Mini device for your project
- Become familiar with i.MX8M Mini multimedia, graphics and Audio
capabilities
- Become familiar with clock, reset, power management and debug strategy
- Become familiar with memory architecture and capabilities
- Become familiar with i.MX8M Mini Boot process, including Secure Boot
- Become familiar with i.MX8M Mini hardware SoM
- Use Yocto project to run applications and build your own Linux Kernel

*Pre-requisites:*
Here are the requirements for the laptop that you will need to bring with
you.
Please bring a personal laptop for the hands-on portion of this training.
See below for requirements.
- Windows/Linux (tested on Ubuntu) 64-bit based laptop
- Minimum free space required: 50GB
- Ethernet port (for connecting to the development kit)
- Virtualization (VT-x/AMD-v) is enabled on BIOS level
- Virtualbox 6.0.0 or higher installed

During the class a few USB drives will be passed around containing the 50
GB image to load on your machine.
Instructors will be able to help with changes to the BIOS configuration
during the training if you are having issues checking or changing that,
though you will need a machine that you have admin rights to.
