I have a radio room click made by Seth Thomas.  Says   "U.S. Maritime Commission "  on the face. Has a date stamped inside, 1943, I think.  I need to find someone to repair it.  I had some correspondence with Chelsea who needed to inspect it.  I think these were modified 8-day mantle clocks. The one with Mackay on it may have a collectors value.  Both Mackay and RCA Radiomarine made complete console radio units for Liberty/Vic tory ships.  These were not meant to be precision clocks but can be adjusted to be very close.  For best long term accuracy wind it once a week at the same time and use the regulator adjustment to minimize long term drift.  I have seen some Navy clocks but they were different.Sent from my Galaxy

The clock would command a premium for the Mackay Radio badge. The clocks were manufactured by Chelsea Clock of Chelsea, Massachusetts and was their only clock with a long sweep second hand, their model 12E movement.Chelsea would put any name on them the purchaser wanted for a premium added to the price. Chelsea discontinued the mechanical radio room clocks in 2000, but the Patriot quartz clock with red and green sectors continues to be sold in two sizes, 6 inches and 8.5 inches in diameter.73DROn Wed, Jun 7, 2023, 22:09 abqcooks--- via CW <cw at mailman.qth.net> wrote:Boy that would be fun.  But I'm a long way from Florida. However I'm wondering about that radio room clock. Do you think that clock is just for Merchant Marine or did the Navy use it as well ? I ask because I have one and wonder about it's history. Mine says Mackay Radio on the clock face and has the red wedges for the silent period.Jim N5KYSent from AOL on Android On Wed, Jun 7, 2023 at 3:53 PM, D.J.J.
