[CW] Vibroplex Variable Main Spring

It appears to me that he is showing options for adjusting the length of the mainspring.  In the first case (those shown on the key) the spring is held by two retaining screws (25), and you loosen those screws to slide the spring and adjust it’s length.  Similar to the early VPlex Presentations.  In the case of figures 8-10 he is showing an alternative method of adjusting the mainspring length by means of a gear and a single retaining screw.
