Thank you for posting this. You always post good stuff. Its
absolutely fascinating. Very good video and  the noise is very
realistic. I am partly deaf but have a pretty good idea what it
sounds like with all that machinery running.
The fellow keying has a great fist. Should be a lesson to
those who think you can't send will with a straight key. Someone
who is worthy of having such a big voice.
In another post you have a link to a recording of the
transmission. You say the receiver does not have a BFO but I do
hear a tone. Maybe just my bad hearing but I wonder if the
receiver is a regenerator. The camera does not stay still long
enough to see who made it. Colin Kennedy maybe.
Thank you for posting these. They set off my firehorse complex.
Its too bad that the name of Reginald Fessenden gets lost in
all this. He is the inventor of much of the alternator. He went
to GE to improve on his ideas. The project was turned over to
Ernst Alexanderson but Fessenden turned out to be so difficult to
work with that Alexanderson was pretty much on his own. Fessenden
was a brilliant man but alienated everyone he worked with.
More of the history is in "A History of Communications and
Electronics in the United States Navy" Linwood S. Haweth.
This machine is one of the principle reasons for the
formation of RCA.
