Yes, it's vibrating.

The key is adjusted so it just touches with spring tension, two pieces of
paper are placed on the knob. Spring tension is INCREASED into the key no
longer is a closed circuit. If needed, the spacing of the key is DECREASED,
increasing spring tension if needed.

Sorry about explaining it poorly, the setup is very unintuitive to me.

They adjust the key for maximum tension and micro spacing.

Anyone who can say this clearer please do.

NW6V said on the SKCC mail list that the current hand key sending record is
35 WPM, which he says is faster than these examples.

I'm just in awe of them, I remember when I took my first radiotelegraph FCC
test, I tested every ball point on the market for speed. The fastest in
1979 was PaperMate Write Bros ballpoint. These days it probably would be
the Zebra ballpoint.

I copied Chatham Radio's 0300Z Associated Press broadcast which lasted
about two hours. It went out at 25 WPM. One night I copied by "stick" the
next night by MILL. Then I'd take the copy and send it with my hand key.
Even though I practiced for two years, I never managed to get above 23 WPM.
I have a neurobiological congenital disability due to my being born three
months premature at 3 lbs. 2 oz. But I concentrate on what I can overcome,
not what makes it difficult.

I finally resigned to use my MILL and Vibroplex. I always had an excellent
fist with a hand key, one old Swede used to say "it sounds like a tape."
