As it turns out the German Luftwaffe was also using Enigma, however, rather than changing the code wheels every day as was the order from German high command, used the same for several days. They also sent encoded weather messages multiple times per day to their various air bases. It turns out that these weather messages were easier to decode along with their locations and this gave Britain access to many Luftwaffe tactical plans and orders in advance to their being carried out.
In addition, "the listeners" CW operators in the RAF, intercepted messages almost continuously from Luftwaffe stations across the globe and because each Luftwaffe CW operator had a very individualized fist "the listeners" were able to specifically identify each operator by the CW code being sent. Then based on this knowledge coupled with the weather reports that, that particular German was sending British military intelligence was able to see were the flight units they were assigned to were located and to determine what attacks were forthcoming prior to them actually taking place.
There are several books about these "listeners" and how they along with the work done by those working on Enigma decodes helped to turn the war in favor of the allies.
