FWIW, I just found an ad from Vibroplex in QST for November
1951 p. 127. It features the "Super Deluxe" key, which is
described as running form the slowest to highest speeds without
extra weights. Obviously has the LaHiff adjustable main spring.
The illustration is of the regular "Deluxe" model they must not
have had a cut of the Super-Deluxe. The price noted, $29.95, is
for a model with gold plated top plate but its not clear if this
is for the Super-Deluxe or just Deluxe.
What pricked up my ears was a small cut at the bottom of the
ad advertising typewriters. I noted that your history says that
Vibroplex shared space with a typewriter shop, evidently the same
company. It advertises both new and rebuilt machines, either
portable or full sized. Before typewriters were pretty much
supplanted by word processors rebuilt machines were very popular.
As good as a new machine but much cheaper. I had never noticed
this before reading your brief history of Vibroplex.
