[CW] Vibroplex Champion Question

North-South etc, doesn't mean much here. There three planes:
fore and aft; side to side; vertical up and down.
I think the OP meant fore and aft. There is no adjustment for
this. In the vertical plane the trunions should be adjusted to
that the height of the contacts is close to centered. On the
Original and other round pendulum keys, the height of the
pendulum must be set so that the dot contact on the vibrator can
be made exactly square with the fixed contact on the post. The
height should be right so that the damper contact is slightly
above or below the center of the damper disc, as you point out.
Sometimes getting the combination right requires changing the
spacing washers on the fixed dot contact post. The dash contact
on all models has a considerable range of up and down adjustment
to match the fixed dash contact. However, if its far off when the
height is set to make the damper and dot contact correct the
fixed dash contact post might need a change of shimming washers.
None of these bugs was precision machinery; there is enough
slop in the design to compensate for some slop in manufacturing.
One problem is that with age the thickness of insulating washers
can change. this can usually be compensated with the metallic
washers. Probably pix would make this a lot clearer.
