Never heard otherwise. I was always told to put two space periods between words. One between letter/numbers. When one learns to use a MILL to copy, it becomes just a normal thing to do. I learned fast speed copy, on a MILL. In fact, pretty much all speeds. I cannot remember a word, and stick another behind it, because I have already forgotten the first word. With a pencil, in hamming, I get something like the important words, down on paper. Names, locations, reports, , etc. But in commercial/government copy, you need it all, so a MILL or typewriter was the way to go. Today even, I will just click in one of my "new folder" icons on the screen and bring up a blank screen, and start copying away on the keyboard. Frankly, not as good a keyboard as the old

I learned that I can't play hot shot on a hand key, all I can do is try to send well, if I want to expose my pride, so I sent well. They liked my sending, and I had worked on it, imitating "DE W1AW" on my tape recording of the W1AW bulletins I had recorded.

I could learn to run wordstogether. Someone at a commercial station told me to deliberately pause after each word - like a double space. I heard the old CW traffic handlers doing that as well as the better coast station operators. So I did that.
