"The Marine Radio Manual" which I got on your
recommendation, lists a few collective calls as of 1944.
NCU calling any or all Coast Guard station.
KGMM Any or all Mackay controlled ship.
WWAA Any or all RMCA controlled ship.
NERK General call for Navy vessels.
WGBC Any or all U.S. merchant ships
NQO Any or all Navy shore stations
WAUS Any or all U.S. commercial coast stations.
KRSW Any RMCA ship equipped for short wave.
BAMS Allied merchant ships (WW-2)
GBMS Any British ship station.
He also mentions that there are collective calls for ships
of particular lines but does not mention any. These would be like
the calls you have below for ESSO/EXXON
I have not been able to find any of the ITU publications on
line and only one, a mid 1970s list of Ships, for sale. Every
ship was supposed to have them but like old telephone books they
seem to be very rare.
