I found this very informative, oscilloscope photographs of contact bounce
of dots produced by semiautomatic keys.

There are three photographs, GHD optical semiautomatic, regular
semiautomatic, and "famous foreign" semiautomatic.
The GHD bugs with optical sensors have always produced exceptional dots.
At first, I didn't want one because the key needed a power supply, but soon
I realized that was a foolish objection as the radio needed power and the
power could easily be taken from an accessory jack on the radio transceiver.
GHD keys are made by Toshihiko Ujiie, JA7GHD in Sendai City, Japan, they are
beautiful, practical, and innovative. He does a beautiful job with his keys.
He makes them in chrome and black powder coated finish, which I understand costs more to produce in Japan than the finest chrome plating. I guess they don't have the restrictive laws which eliminated small plating shops here in USA.
If you've never explored the GHD Japanese web site, I urge you to do so, it's very interesting. Whatever you might find there can be ordered by Marshall Emm of Morsex.com (do not misspell this or you will go to an ugly site.)
