I found the resonance of Trimm phones varies. The
Commericals I use are around 800hz but the Featherweights are
closer to 1200. Not sure what affects this. I've tried swapping
diaphragms with no change. The old Western Electric 509W phones
are pretty consistent at 1000 hz but are heavy. About the
heaviest are the old Baldwin phones. They are balanced armature
with mica diaphragms and a lot of iron in them. They are also
resonant at about 1000hz. I prefer a lower tone and when using a
speaker set it to probably somewhere around 700 hz.
I think the old spark transmitters were around 500 hz.
