Check out my QRZ page.  To my knowledge, bugs were not used on the B-17.  My step-dad was a tail gunner in WWII and he said never saw one on the B-17.  My son-in-laws dad was a waist gunner with same answer.  Interesting, my go to key is a J-36 by Vibroplex given to my by a WWII Army signal corp man.  The Vibroplex brass plate say June 23, 1942 US Army SignalCorp. Lionel also made J-36's.

 Greetings,
This weekend I get to tour a WWII B-17 bomber.  I'm looking at pictures on the web
of the radio op desk and I see a straight key.  I'm wondering if bugs were ever used on WWII aircraft.  Anyone know ?
                       Thanks. Jim
