[CW] Elimination of CW-Only Sub-bands

I was actually referring to 160 and 6 when making the statement. Those are big contest bands, at times, and you would think they were only a few kc wide, with everyone down at the bottom.

Don't forget 30 meters is CW only (plus DATA and PACKET)

Yes, many of us tend to stay down there, but on ssb contests, you will find people all over the band, including where we should only hear cw and or rtty. It comes down to do unto others as you would have them do unto you, but these guys think it says do unto others first.

Danny, I think that even on 160 the CW guys still typically mostly operate at the lower end. Here I generally tune the antenna to work at the lower end and if I must use phone there is always the tuner in the shack.

"This petitioner apparently doesn't understand that there are currently only two
amateur radio frequency bands where all license classes are restricted to using CW
only. These are the 6 Meter and 2 Meter bands."
Reading that, I almost dropped dead, and had to look at my chart, cause I have been using voice and RTTY on both bands for decades. Later on, he clarified that as to they are the bands that have a CW ONLY portion. I pretty much agree with the rest of that, but want to clarify that we need an area, even in those bands, where we keep our data transmission away from CW - and this is provided, although I certainly don't understand why those cw only portions are so small, given the very wide band to start with.
Back in the day, it was all "antenna bandwidth" so if one had an antenna for one end of the band (cw for us aficionados) it was hard to get a good SWR for voice down there. 160 meters, where we do not have even that small portion of CW only, could certainly use it.
