WHATEVER SIZE WEIGHT USED TO SLOW A BUG, IT WORKS BEST AT THE FAR END OF
THE ARM. WHEN YOU RUN OUT OF ARM, YOU CAN EXTEND THE ARM, ADD WEIGHT OR
CUT AWAY PART OF THE MAIN SPRING. IF YOU CUT THE MAINSPRING USE A ROUND
FILE. A SHARP CORNER IS THE END FOR THE SPRING. EXTENDING THE ARM IS ONLY
ONE WAY. EXTENDING THE ARM MAKES THE BUG LONGER AND CAN BE A PROBLEM FOR
CROWDED SPACES. HOW MANY BUGS HAVE YOU SEEN WITH SOLDER WRAPPED AROUND THE
FACTORY WEIGHT. IF WORKED FOR ME A HALF CENTURY AGO.
I HAVE DONE THEM ALL AND THEY ALL WORK. ANYONE WANTING MORE INFO EMAIL ME
OFF REFLECTOR. I WISH I COULD MAKE A YOUTUBE VIDEO TO PROVE ALL THREE
METHODS WORK. THE LIGHTNING BUG IS EASY WITH A THREADED ROD AND THUMBNUT
TO STACK WEIGHTS ON TOP OF THE FACTORY WEIGHT. MORE WEIGHT AND THE BUG
SLOWS. YOU CAN SEE THE PHOTO OF THE LIGHTNING BUG WITH THE ROD TO STACK
WEIGHTS ON MY QRZ PAGE.
ANOTHER EASY WAY IS TO USE LARGER WEIGHTS FROM 2bradioproducts.com AND I
HAVE SEEN THEM FOR SALE ON EBAY ALSO. THEY HAVE WEIGHTS FOR ALL VIBROPLEX
MODELS. THE VIBROPLEX ONES WORKED ON MY LES LOGAN ALSO. THEY HAVE WEIGHTS
FOR MAC BUGS TOO. NICELY MADE WITH LARGE DIAMETER AND REDUCED LENGTH FOR
OVERALL GREATER SPEED RANGE. VIBROPLEX HAS IT BACKWARDS MAKING THE LARGER,
HEAVIER WEIGHTS LONGER CUTTING THE SPEED RANGE. IF YOU HAVE TO BUY
SOMETHING TO SLOW DOWN YOUR BUG, THIS IS MY FIRST CHOICE FOR ROUND HOLE
WEIGHTS.
