Ah, yes Katashi Nose KH6IJ. I was a lad of 13 years old and used to listen in awe at his perfect 30 WPM CW. He used to tell of how he would increase the pileup size by refusing to answer W6's so the would be heard off the back of their beams on the East Coast thus increasing the pileups. Katashi would also purposefully move his listening frequency above and below his, so the spread out the pileup. Late in the contest he would raise pileups with QRS even in the Novice Bands. (Such a fond memory!) Layne AE1N ex-K0SLD, KW6DG, DL4FU, W7HOI, K7GN

Sadly, I can no longer be invisible to the Reverse Beacon Network which
used to NOT be able to copy sideswiper fists.
Neither can Mo, CN8YR who lives in a moderately rare country, Morocco.
http://www.reversebeacon.net/dxsd1/dxsd1.php?f=0&c=cn8yr&t=dx
Lots of spots for Mo, and he always uses a sideswiper.
His non-automatic spots are here: http://www.dxsummit.fi/#/?dx_calls=CN8YR
I send with sideswiper, bug, straight key, and electronic keyer, and I
cannot hide either:
http://www.reversebeacon.net/dxsd1/dxsd1.php?f=0&c=n1ea&t=dx
I am hiding out for SKN.

Well I am ashamed to say that I had not considered the handicap possibility. Most certainly there are hams dealing with physical and/or mental handicaps that would affect their ability to send ?perfect? CW and I would have no way to determine if that were the case, I should probably just shut up and go QRT! In my defense, I was not targeting anyone in particular but had just spent a few hours on the bands and was pretty frustrated with what I perceived as an abundance of sloppy CW. If I offended anyone let me assure them that it was not my goal and please accept my apology.

Ron ..... no harm done ....?? We all have felt that way ... It is easy to get frustrated ... particularly when you call?CQ ,...
?
And some one answers you and he sends his call "three" different ways when he calls you ....
?
You don't know how to reply ...? we have all had this happen ...
?
I remember Nose KH6HI .... at the time he was probably in the top 5 CW operators in the world .... we worked him a few times ..
I remember?once decades ago when he?on a vacation and he visited the states .... we worked him once when he was driving a 60 MPH on the Maine turnpike running the pile up at 30 WPM .... this was at a time when you seldom heard mobile CW stations ...
Later in his life he had a stroke ...lost the use of his fingers?to send CW... BUT this did NOT stop him from getting on the bands ?
We worked him in KH6 land ... He could still punch the buttons on a memory keyer ... enough to send out the basic exchange..
599 ...op is Nose ... tu? ... 73 ... KH6HI ....? we have his QSL card ...
Does any one remember Nose ??
?
Whitey? K1VV?

I have his 1967 KH6IJ Hawaii license plate which he gave me when he was
teaching at Harvard in Cambridge, MA. In 1982 I visited him at the
Honolulu Radio Club Shoney's breakfest. His wife was with him and I told
them sea stories about my ship mv Rover bound for Singapore. Nose was a
former Radio Officer in US Merchant Marine.
