Frank,
Whitey did not say either of Marconi's daughters were amateur radio
operators.
One of Marconi's daughters came to the site of Marconi's Cape Cod,
Massachusetts station site.
This was radio station CC. Then it became MCC. The M was for Marconi.
Then the International Telecommunications Union from Paris required not
company call signs like MCC MGY but national call signs. The M prefix was
assigned to the United Kingdom - England, Scotland, Wales, Northern
Ireland, and the UK islands surrounding the Island of Britian.
So CC became MCC for Marconi then MCC became WCC and that call sign still
exists except it has moved from Chatham, MA on Cape Cod to Maryland.
