I'll give you a personal example.  There is a DX club in town where at one 
time you used to have to have DXCC to join.  I was so proud when I was able 
to join.  I was even president of the club one year.  Well, more and more 
people joined and their attitude was why make people have DXCC. We'll let 
anyone join that is interested in DX and that will spur them on. Ya right. I 
know people that have joined and now it's just another ham club.  Some don't 
even work DX.  I fought and fought this until it was obvious I was going to 
loose. A number of us quit in disgust.  I'm proud to say I went on to achieve 
top of the honor roll.  Although many of the members do, I doubt a number of 
the ones in the club don't even have DXCC little alone honor roll or top of 
the honor roll. Sad. No pried in achievement any more. Just gimee gimee.
