I haven't operated the Intrepid, and I'd be a poor judge, since I never got the hang of semi-automatic bug operating.  However, all ten of the reviews in e-ham are glowing:

A key is to a CW operator like footwear is to a runner or hiker.  The Intrepid is not cheap, but it will probably outlast your current transceiver by many years
