Can I be a Hornet instead of a Bumble Bee?

Someone once called William F. Buckley, Jr., a WASP thinking he was one
(White Anglo-Saxon Protestant), however Buckley was a very vocal Catholic.
He, of course, denied he was a WASP and said that he was instead  a HORNET
because he was a Catholic.

I'm sure this stunned his attacker.  I like the name of the HORNET because
it reminds me of the USS HORNET which was a very famous aircraft carrier.
