[CW] CW trends on the ham bands -- as I experience it

Can someone explain to me me why so many pile up to call a particular (non dx, non-special-call sign station) even on the WARC bands, where there are no contests.

Only logic I can find is that it is either the competitive high/kick many presumably get in breaking through a swarm of other stations on the exact same frequency (some being swift enough to send slightly off frequency) OR are they just boning up for the next contest?

Sometimes I experience a swarm of stations calling me after I finish a QSO and I don't get this when calling CQ.
I usually work one or two out of the swarm and then QRT.

The down side is that there's almost no one left on the band with whom you can run a relaxed QSO. -- and why are there so few that will actually hold a QSO running more than 1 to 3 minutes? Is it a language problem -- nothing to say ?-- or are most caught up in some QSO quantity frenzy where you just zap along and never get into any depth.

I also wonder why so many can't or wont get my call right -- usually reading the last letter 'f' as 'r' regardless of whether I use
my el-key, bug or straight key -- no one seems to have trouble copying my text -- also some swift types insist on calling me Harry no matter how many times I tell them it's Henry. No, nothing wrong with my fist or keying - have heard it recorded and played backed to me and have been told that my sending is clean and easily readable.

Then there the types, with S8-9 signals, where condx are good and I'm sure they can read my signal, who keep on saying 'agn' no matter how much I QRS or exagerate my dots and dashes to make it easy for them -- is this some kind of sadistic humor? I will repeat a maximum
of 3 times, after that I respond with either 'no' , 73 or GN.

Then there are those who just send my RST (usually a standard 599, telling me nothing ) followed by 'ur QSL' and that's it, no name, no QTH -nada - usually one particular nationality which I will not name here.
I go on the air to have enjoyable QSO's , not to massage my ego and not to be toyed with. Am I misunderstanding something here -- if so, what?
