 As one poster explained,  (I  think it was Danny, who has a wonderful knack of explaining things)
1. the most difficult task, in learning code, is to copy in your head.
2. the reason for that is, that beginners often listen to code sent too slowly.
3. If I sent letters, at the speed of 5 wpm, and asked a newbie what he heard, he would repeat the letters.and therefore, he'd never learn to copy words.
HOWEVER, if I sent code at 5 wpm, but letters more closely spaced...and asked him what he'd heard, he'd tell me the word he heard...and before long, he'd be rockin' and rollin'
