Hi all,
It would be a good time to go back to some original references instead of
inserting and interpreting a variety of over-the-time operator variations
that have grown up.
There is only one correct way of doing it.
Operational Signals (OPSIGS) were / are printed in Official manuals without
the alphabetic equivalents, 1905, 1906 and following.
E.g. .-.-. and the AR were added by operators and instructors as a
memory aid for learning, not a part of the signal description.
This was explained by Marconi and others at the Brit and US "Titanic"
inquiries in 1912.
Many commercial and other publications commenced adding the alphabeticals.
Those that could printed the overline to show it was sent as a single
signal. "barred".
Variations have grown into use via different editors' opinions and
interpretations over the years.
The latest ITU RR's is 2008 but unfortunately there are no freebies anymore,
it's a payfor world.
When I started my research in the 1980's the ITU willingly sent me volumes
of info all free. Not any more.
That was when human beings actually searched for it, copied and posted it to
you.
Some free downloads are available from:
http://life.itu.int/radioclub/rr/rrcont.htm
Other than the paper book, the latest free download I have is:
ACP-124(D) Allied Comms. Publication - Radiotelegraphy Procedures 1987.
Goto my page http://tiny.cc/jwa > 14. Links etc.... Click on the
download link.
This may probably be the last RT update we will get.
I hope this assists,
