What you will miss out on is the whole appreciation of Morse as rhythm -
music - sound - and not key presses.

Get your self a decent hand key - the guys at SKCC are making a very nice
hand key.

I'm guessing that you might be from the Netherlands because of your name -
there are a lot of great Morse operators there - and you might find an old
Morse key over at Radio-Holland depot there.

With a straight key - especially on the lower frequencies - 1.8, 3,5 and 7.0
MHz - you can customize your sending to match the conditions. Sometimes
sending "fatter" dashes gets the message through.

I'd recommend getting a straight key and learning it - at least you will
very much appreciate a speed key (either bug or paddle and keyer) when you
get it.

A paddle and speed key in the hand of someone who has no feel for Morse
sounds pretty ugly when they start sending with no spaces or extra dots and
dashes. Kind of like running a rotary floor buffer the first time!
